Hôtel Frégate Bleue ***Restaurant Le Flamant Rose

A weekend at the Frégate Bleue *** hotel – Le Flamant Rose restaurant

Here’s a 3-star hotel-restaurant that deserves to be known. Frégate Bleue is located in Le François on Martinique’s South Atlantic coast, facing the islets of Le François and the white depths of the Josephine bathtub. This charming hotel occupies a fabulous site, with the added bonus of a “Le Flamant Rose” restaurant run by chef Henri Nunes.

An exceptional location

Facing the islets of François

The first asset of the Hôtel Frégate Bleue is undoubtedly its geographical location… A very quiet area cradled by the gentle trade winds, between the towns of Le François and Le Vauclin, with a breathtaking view of the islets of Le François and the Josephine bathtub.

A truly charming cocoon for a dream stay.

Frégate Bleue ***hotel-restaurant

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be seduced by the discreet charm of this establishment: a tropical garden overlooking the sea, a heated pool with massaging jets, a bright restaurant-bar.

The welcome is professional, and the team looks after the well-being of its guests. It has to be said that the hotel is run by a family of hoteliers, the same ones who run theLa Pagerie hotel at Pointe du Bout in Trois-îlets, a benchmark in Martinique. I think it’s a beautiful place!

The 16 rooms

The 3-star Frégate Bleue hotel offers 16 room types in 2 buildings, subtly blending shades of beige, green and blue: from the garden-view room to the large sea-view suite, not forgetting family rooms with mezzanine and loft-style rooms under the roofs. Some are equipped with kitchenettes, so there’s something for everyone, from intimate getaways to family get-togethers!

I chose a premium double room overlooking the islets and the Atlantic Ocean. As soon as I entered, the panorama spread out before my eyes was simply magnificent.

The room is large and bright. From the terrace overlooking the sea, furnished with deckchairs and a small lounge, I can see Oscar islet, Thierry islet, the coral reef… The bathroom is perfect. I love it!

The exotic garden

In the beautifully landscaped tropical garden, you canrelax in the shade of the straw huts and deckchairs, sipping a fresh fruit cocktail or a planter overlooking the ocean.

The pool

The superb swimming pool, as turquoise as the white bottoms, featuresa full-length heated massaging jet pool. Ideal for relaxing! All around: sunbeds and large flowerpots create a colorful ambience.

Le Flamant Rose restaurant

Open every evening, Sunday lunchtimes and mornings for breakfast to hotel residents and external guests .

In the evening, the place has a fairy-tale feel, with its lighting, Greek-blue walls, teak furniture and the swimming pool that incorporates part of the room.

Chef Henri Nunes’ menu

Comfortably seated with my coconut punch, I discover the menu of chef Henri Nunes, who takes us on a world tour of flavors. For starters, I choose the salmon gravlax with daikon and lime, my friend the Tahitian-style sea bream tartar served in coconut, followed by the small fish roast with just-cooked vegetables, the chuck effiloché with sweet potato, and for dessert, the banana in the shell with rhum vieux Clément.

It’s excellent: cooking, flavors, presentation, we’re in for a treat! We finish our dinner by the pool with a glass of excellent old rum from Clément.

I’m delighted with this little getaway, a wellness interlude before returning to work. The Frégate Bleue hotel is a real favorite, and I love staying there…

A word of advice: don’t hesitate to book a room with a sea view, you won’t regret it!
