Description
The former Clément distillery, situated at the heart of Habitation Clément in Le François, immerses visitors in the history of Martinique’s agricultural rum.
This tour offers an insight into the stages of rum production, from sugar cane to ageing in oak barrels.
Carefully restored, the old factory bears witness to the industrial heritage of Habitation Clément. The machinery, facilities and production areas have been preserved and showcased to illustrate the evolution of the estate and the expertise behind Clément Rums.
The tour also highlights the ageing cellars, iconic places where the aged rums rest. The estate’s four cellars – Homère Clément, Charles Clément, Georges-Louis Clément and Jean-José Clément – house the casks in which the rum gradually develops its aromas, colour and complexity.
This tour is ideal for gaining a better understanding of the unique characteristics of AOC Martinique agricultural rum. A visit to the old distillery completes the heritage tour of Habitation Clément. It allows visitors to appreciate the link between family history, sugarcane cultivation, production techniques and industrial heritage.
