Description
At the heart of Habitation Clément in Le François, the Clément Foundation invites visitors to discover a major cultural venue dedicated to contemporary art from Martinique and the Caribbean.
Set in an exceptional historic setting, the Pinacothèque showcases a collection of over 800 works gathered over the years.
This museum space showcases the work of artists from Martinique, the Caribbean and the wider region. Paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations and contemporary works come together to create a rich exhibition experience, accessible to all visitors.
The Pinacothèque offers a deeper understanding of the diversity of Caribbean artistic creation and its dialogue with the heritage of the Habitation Clément.
Since 2005, the Clément Foundation has played a significant role in promoting the arts and heritage in Martinique. It supports contemporary creation, organises temporary exhibitions, hosts artists and regularly publishes cultural works. Its work helps to raise the profile of the local and Caribbean art scene.
The Pinacothèque, which opened in 2023, offers a 550 m² space dedicated to works acquired by the Foundation. Its large glass roofs open onto the tropical garden of Habitation Clément, creating a strong link between art, architecture and landscape.
A wide range of events are held throughout the year – see the ‘Events’ section:
• Art exhibitions
• Guided tours of the exhibitions
• Creative workshops for children and adults
• Guided tours for school groups
