A stay at Karibéa Squash Hôtel & Spa *** – Restaurant Le Jardin des Alizés

Today I’m visiting a couple of friends who are staying at the Squash Hotel for a few days. I’m going to join them for lunch and spend the afternoon with them. I’m looking forward to rediscovering this hotel well known to business travelers as I know that everything has been renovated, from the rooms to the pool.

The hotel enjoys an ideal geographical location: just a few minutes’ walk from Fort-de-France city center, the Malecon, Savane Park, close to all the shopping areas and the sea shuttles to Pointe du Bout des Trois-îlets. This makes it a pleasant base for business travellers.

3-star hotel facing the Caribbean Sea

The welcome, remains the hallmark of the hotel, the team is hyper helpful, warm.

As soon as I arrive, I see the first huge change: the swimming pool ! Completely redone, superb! The bright turquoise infinity pool overlooks the bay of Fort-de-France. Blue in the blue: the view is as impressive as ever.

All around the furniture has changed, comfortable deckchairs, designer parasols: the whole is much more modern and invites to Caribbean farniente.

offers to show me the changes that have taken place in the rooms, and we head upstairs. The corridors, all repainted, each display a color theme, which we’re going to find in touches in the rooms in the choice of fabrics, furniture and decor. I think the idea of the large numbers indicating the room numbers is very successful. The entirety of the rooms and suites has been renovated. The literacy is hyper-comfortable, as we love in luxury hotels… The new furniture, design, sober, which brings style and lightness to the whole establishment. There’s a lovely harmony at the Squash new look, in the spirit of Caribbean chic.

My friends are lucky enough to have a suite vue mer, very spacious, very bright, with an ultramarine tone. Their terrace is equipped with a well-designed kitchenette, with a real oven, and quite a bit of space.

The bathroom is elegant, with a large walk-in shower, the towels are thick and fluffy, I love it!

The restaurant room and its terrace also sport new colors, the tables are well set, it’s luminous and tropical at the same time, alliance of light wood, white, anthracite and light green bravo for these changes!

Today we’ll be lunching à la carte, sometimes a Creole buffet is laid on for all guests, out-of-town or staying at the hotel.

The menu is Franco-Creole inspired, French cuisine basics revisited with local produce. Our plates are beautifully presented: my friends chose the Duck magret with passion sauce and I a Thai Vegetable Poke Bowl, very fragrant (with sesame oil!). The Crème brûlée with coconut was perfect with my little coffee!

Bar La Pinta

Then it’s off to the pool, where the delicious water refreshes us. The pool is quite deep, so you can swim if you feel like it, or just laze around on the big steps. We then chatted all afternoon, they told me about their excursions, the visit to Saint-Pierre, their encounter with the dolphins off Bellefontaine.

A little cocktail at the bar La Pinta at the end of the day, the sunset over the sea, we relax, we’re in the West Indies, we’re good!!!

I set off again for the south of the island, delighted with this pleasant day which has enabled me to associate a new, modern and stylish image with this must-visit hotel of the Karibéa group…
