Authentic Creole cuisineA place steeped in history

Stopover at Le Point de Vue

Le Point de Vue is one of Martinique’s leading restaurants for Creole cuisine. It is located on the outskirts of Sainte-Marie on the way to the north of the island, at Anse Charpentier. Are you planning to hike, walk or visit the distilleries of the North Atlantic? Stop off for lunch – you’ll love it!

L'anse Charpentier and its Sugar Loaf

exceptional!

The site itself is well worth the detour: a long avenue of coconut palms leads to the restaurant, set in the middle ofa park bordered by palm and almond trees. The wild beauty of the Atlantic Ocean stretches out before you as far as the eye can see. I just love it! The beach at Anse Charpentier, also known as the “surfers’ beach”, is a favorite with experienced boardriders, as this 800 m spot offers ideal rollers and waves. The panorama, with the famous Pain de Sucre in the background, is simply splendid. An exceptional place where nature, adventure, history and gastronomy meet!

A place steeped in history

Anse Charpentier was once a place where Amerindians lived, a coastal trading post where sugar from nearby plantations was loaded onto boats, and a crayfish farm.

A restaurant lulled by the freshness of the trade winds

There’s a choice of either the large covered terrace or the Caribbean carbet made of bakoua leaves, which is my favorite spot, as it’s very pleasant. There are lots of regulars, tourists, families from Martinique and hikers. It has to be said that the address is renowned in Martinique and even beyond our borders. The quality has been consistent over the years. I love the warm, smiling welcome from the team of women, and the efficient service.

Traditional West Indian cuisine

The chefs, all from Martinique, have inherited their recipes from mother to daughter. Mastering cooking techniques, spices and marinades to perfection, they perpetuate the generosity and harmony of local flavors in their dishes . As for the team in the dining room, they take the time to advise you and explain their specialities with kindness and benevolence (without overdoing it!). That’s the hallmark of Point de Vue!

This is West Indian cuisine the way we like it: fragrant and generous!

Unmissable specialties

Here you’ll be able to sample the unmissable specialties of West Indian cuisine: cod accras with homemade coconut punch, Tahitian-style fish with coconut milk, chicken colombo, crayfish fricassee, chatrou fricassée de chatrou, grilled snapper, coq au rhum vieuxà l’ananas served with country vegetables – dachine, yam, sweet potato, lentils or kidney beans, rice and gratin or mousseline.

I recommend theAssiette Découverte (crayfish fricassee + chatrou + grilled sea bream) for a taste of three classics at once.

   Great deal!

A la carte menus with starter, main course and dessert start at 25 euros.

For dessert, treat yourself to a coconut flan or a coconut blancmange– pure indulgence!

As an aperitif or after a meal, try a coconut or fruit punch, a piña colada or a planteur. They’re top-notch!

Once again I had a great time at the Point de Vue restaurant. I love this restaurant, its food, the atmosphere: it was as usual excellent. Thank you Méloïca and all your great team… of girls 😉

We'd like you to do it for us!
