Creole hot chocolate

Ingredients

For 6 cups:

  • 1 liter of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 60 g of dark chocolate powder
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 pinch of grated nutmeg

Preparation

  1. Heat the milk with the cinnamon, vanilla bean and grated nutmeg.
  2. Add the sugar and cocoa.
  3. Mix the cornstarch in a little cold milk with the egg.
  4. As soon as the chocolate comes to a boil, lower the heat and pour in the cornstarch. Without ceasing to stir, let thicken over very low heat for 5 minutes.
  5. Let cool before serving with a piece of buttered bread.
