  • The Savannah of the Slaves is a must-see site, a village of Memory and History, in the heart of a 3 hectare landscaped park.

  • After two years of deforestation, Gilbert built several huts made of ti-baume wood, reeds and cane leaves, reconstituting a "Village an tan lontan" and a small traditional Creole garden. It opened to the public in December 2004. In 2007, the Savane was expanded with a small museum of slavery, a medicinal garden and a cassava boiler. In 2009, Gilbert builds the Manioquerie (cassava and cassava flour factory) and welcomes groups for his Kako (cocoa) stick workshops. (See "Agenda" section)...

    Today, the park extends over 3 hectares, it is an essential site to discover, paying tribute to the history and traditions of Martinique, organised around villages. Throughout your visit, you will be able to appreciate the floral design of this unique place by walking along the paths, strolling around the ponds, understanding the "Creole garden" cultivated and organized in a traditional manner, a true model for agro-ecology. Discover a medicinal garden and the virtues of many Caribbean plants. All the plants and trees of the park are identified.

    Throughout the tour, your visit will be accompanied by audio QR codes, videos, more than 40 bilingual panels and a 12-meter long fresco, detailing the history of slavery in the Caribbean, revolts, marooning, free people of color, abolitionists. You will cross the 25 traditional huts, the museum hut, the Kalinago village, the Case-Nègres street, the place of Romain slave (see heading "Museums").
