Description
Le Marie-Louise: An Authentic Family Restaurant Overlooking the Sea in Schoelcher
In the heart of Fond Lahaye, on the seafront, lies Le Marie-Louise, an iconic restaurant that has embodied the spirit of Martinique for over 70 years. Passed down from generation to generation, this family-run establishment combines tradition, generosity and refinement.
A story of family and passion
The restaurant is tastefully decorated using natural materials, with a warm atmosphere and attentive service. Whether you’re popping in for a relaxed lunch or a more intimate dinner, you’ll immediately feel at home.
Creole & French cuisine rooted in the local terroir
Chef Mike Landerneau offers a concise, seasonal menu, updated monthly according to the catches of local fishermen and Martinican producers. His philosophy? To elevate local produce with creativity whilst honouring the classics.
Specialities include:
- Smoked conch
- Grilled chatrou
- Fresh fish of the day (snapper, ouassous…)
- Smoked pork
- Homemade desserts with local spices (vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg)
The menu gives pride of place to local produce: short supply chains, exceptional freshness and authentic flavours. A generous, balanced cuisine full of emotion.
The menu of signature cocktails made with AOC Martinique rums and creative mocktails also contributes to the venue’s reputation.
A few weekends each month, a special atmosphere takes hold with more traditional dishes (macadam, ti-nain cod, etc.) that celebrate the neighbourhood’s roots.
The restaurant features three distinct areas:
- A terrace cooled by the trade winds
- A cosy and elegant dining room
- A more intimate space, ideal for romantic dinners or private events
L’Épicerie de Renée: the heart of the neighbourhood
Right next to the restaurant is L’Épicerie de Renée, a proper old-fashioned ‘lolo’ where you’ll find homemade jams, rums, spices and local produce.
Tip: Mention that you’re coming via Martinique Tour when you book.
