Le Joséphine – the Creole restaurant at the Hôtel L’Impératrice
In the heart of Fort-de-France, opposite La Savane, Le Joséphine restaurant is the gastronomic soul of the Hôtel L’Impératrice. An iconic address where you can experience the spirit of Martinique, combining tradition and refinement. -
In an elegant colonial-inspired dining room or on the terrace overlooking Fort de France Bay. The kitchen serves classic Creole cuisine.
Each dish is prepared using fresh, local and seasonal produce, favouring Martinican producers and fishermen. The fish comes from Carbet, the meat is sourced locally, the fruit and vegetables come from the market, and the ‘péyi’ sorbets are handmade.
Here, everything is homemade, and you can taste it.

Not to be missed: the all-you-can-eat Creole buffet on Thursdays and Fridays
The highlight of the week, the Creole buffet on Thursday and Friday lunchtimes has become a real institution in Fort-de-France. Popular with regulars and visitors alike, it offers an all-you-can-eat culinary journey through the typical—and sometimes forgotten—recipes of Martinican cuisine: ti-nain morue, souskaï de hareng saur, soupe z'habitant, accras de titiri, fricassée de chatrou, roussi de cabri...
A delight and expertise passed down from generation to generation, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
An experience not to be missed if you want to sample the authenticity of the local culinary heritage.

Authentic Creole cuisine
In addition to the buffet, Le Joséphine offers two daily market menus based on the chef's inspiration and the day's catch. Signature dishes—grilled ribeye steak with Creole sauce, maracudja chicken fricassee, old-fashioned grilled snapper—express the richness of a simple, generous cuisine full of character.
For dessert, indulge in sweet treats such as peyi sorbets, chocolate-caramel lava cake or the surprising breadfruit delight with pineapple confit. And to accompany your meal, the restaurant offers a fine selection of aged rums, to be enjoyed as an aperitif or digestif.
