In Sainte-Marie, in northern Martinique, the tropical garden at the Banana Museum offers a pleasant stroll through a real banana plantation. Set on the grounds of Habitation Limbé, a former 18th-century sugar plantation, this 2-hectare park showcases a remarkable collection of banana trees and magnificent tropical plants. It is the ideal nature walk for gaining a better understanding of the world of banana cultivation in Martinique.

The garden brings together more than 60 varieties of banana trees from all over the world. Some have surprising shapes, colours and names. Along the way, you can see:
• Kankanbou
• Makandja
• Figue Rose
• Benedetta
• Pisang Lilin
• Gross Famm
• and Banane Pis, the only variety endemic to Martinique.
Information panels line the path, allowing visitors to discover the characteristics of each variety. Visitors are free to explore at their own pace.

Lush tropical vegetation grows around the banana trees, adding to the charm of the site.
