Maison La Mauny Distillery

Distillery, Historic site and monument in Rivière-Pilote
8 Full-fare
  • The "Maison La Mauny" distillery estate has been nestled in a green valley in Rivière Pilote since 1749, surrounded by fields of sugar cane, and has managed to retain all its authenticity.

This "fumante" distillery is still in operation and is one of the only distilleries in the south of the island to produce Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée agricultural rum.

  • The rich red clay soils help the sugar cane to develop rich aromas that are enhanced by the local micro-climate. In 2020, the Maison La Mauny distillery was named "Best Rum Producer" and "Best Spirits Producer" at the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition in London.

Since 1991, cellar master Daniel Baudin has put his expertise, rigour, nose and creativity at the service of Maisons La Mauny and Trois-Rivières rums. His career and expertise were rewarded at the International...

Since 1991, cellar master Daniel Baudin has put his expertise, rigour, nose and creativity at the service of Maisons La Mauny and Trois-Rivières rums. His career and expertise were rewarded at the International Rum Conference (IRC) in Miami on 26 September 2019: he was voted best cellar master in the world!

    Visits:
The guided tour of the site and distillery takes place on the little "Ti Train" train (access to the rum shack is free). You'll discover the expertise of the men and women who, year after year, perpetuate the traditional methods used to make Maison La Mauny agricultural rums.

Prices 2024 for train tours: Adults: €8 - Children (aged 4 to 12): €4 - Free for children under 4.

    Not to be missed:
    - At the Cabane à Rhum, you'll be introduced to the art of tasting the various exceptional white and aged rums from the house. You can then buy your rums and bartender's accessories bearing the brand's logo. You'll also find a fine wine and champagne cellar.
