The mangrove is not only a nursery for young fish, but also a refuge from predators.

With a great deal of humour, good humour and, above all, knowledge, your guide will answer all your questions on and around the mangrove with ease and precision: flora, fauna, as well as that of the manatee, a species of marine mammal that has disappeared from the island...

As you sail along, you'll pass by the islets Charles, Thébloux and Sixtain (named after the last owners of the "chaufourniers"), which gave their name to the commune of Trois-Îlets, and off the Gros îlet (or îlet Mandoline). On the way back, stop off at "Petit îlet" for a snack of fresh juice, punch and cakes.

    A MUST-DO EXCURSION!

    A bit of culture
    Diverse flora and fauna.
Génipa Bay is home to the island's largest mangrove swamp. The mangrove is a forest with its feet in the water, a unique natural ecosystem in Martinique, between the maritime and continental domains.
With vegetation such as mangrove trees, with their stilt-like roots accustomed to the salty environment, the mangrove's function is to prevent coastal erosion, but also to protect coral species.
This ecosystem plays a very important role for the island, acting as a buffer zone between the sea and the river mouths. It helps the island to retain its natural state without being disturbed by changes in the sea.
