Located in the heart of Martinique, on the famous Route de la Trace, the Creole restaurant Le Bambou is a must for lovers of traditional West Indian cuisine. Founded in 1986, it is one of the oldest and best-loved restaurants on the island and has been run by the same family for three generations. A true institution that appeals to locals and visitors alike, offering the perfect gastronomic break during a trip to the north of the island.

You’ll have lunch in a large, light-filled room, well-ventilated and decorated with tropical plants and bouquets of exotic flowers. The service is friendly and attentive.

Creole cuisine to discover The restaurant’s cuisine showcases the flavours of Martinique. Each dish is prepared with care, in keeping with traditional recipes, using methods passed down through more than three generations.

Among the restaurant’s must-try dishes: • Cod accras with coconut: unique to Martinique. • Fisherman’s tartare with sweet chillies: a fresh and flavourful starter. • Snapper court-bouillon: a traditional dish. • Fried balaous with cassava flour: a Creole speciality that will delight lovers of fried fish. • Lamb shanks with Péléen colombo • Bambou-style crayfish stir-fry: a dish bursting with flavour, showcasing local crayfish.

When it comes to desserts, the coconut flan and the thin pineapple tart, made with fresh fruit from their own garden, remain firm favourites.

The restaurant’s tropical garden: After your meal, do take a moment to explore the restaurant’s orchard, where many of the fruits used in the dishes are grown. You can stroll through this tropical garden and appreciate the beauty of Martinique’s natural surroundings.
