Le Mantou: an ecotourism excursion in the Génipa mangrove forest at Trois-Îlets Departing from the village of Trois-Îlets, Le Mantou – Mangrov’éco offers a 2½-hour ecotourism excursion through the Génipa mangrove, the largest mangrove in Martinique. The trip takes place aboard the Mantou, a flat-bottomed electric boat that can accommodate up to 12 passengers.

The guided tour offers the chance to discover the mangroves and the flora and fauna characteristic of this ecosystem situated between land and sea. During the trip, the boat passes close to the islets of Charles, Thébloux and Sixtain, before stopping at Petit Îlet for a snack.

Two departures a day from Les Trois-Îlets • Morning: from 9.30 am to 12 noon • Afternoon: from 2.30 pm to 5 pm

Boarding takes place at Place Paul Thévenard, in the village of Les Trois-Îlets, near the ferry terminal. Each trip is limited to a maximum of 12 passengers, with a half-day tour that’s easy to fit into your itinerary.

A guided tour of the Génipa mangrove During the boat trip, the guide explains how the mangrove works: it serves as a refuge and nursery for the many species that live there, and explains its ecosystem. – Mangrove trees – Touloulou – Fiddler crab – Green heron – Warbler, – Blue egret – Osprey – Mangrove oysters – termite mounds.

On the way back, we’ll stop off at Petit Îlet for a snack: • fresh fruit juice • punch • homemade cakes or pastries

A 12-seater electric boat The Mantou is a flat-bottomed electric boat with a maximum capacity of 12 passengers. It is wheelchair-accessible. If this applies to you, please mention it when making your booking to help us organise boarding. The tour is available in French and English.

What are the prices for the Mantou? • Adult: €35 • Children aged 3 to 12: €20 • Children aged 0 to 3: €5

Where do you board the Mantou? The meeting point is at Place Paul Thévenard in the village of Trois-Îlets – it’s very easy to find. Boarding takes place at the ferry terminal. For your comfort, remember to bring a bottle of water, a hat and your camera.
