Accompanied by Éric, an experienced and bilingual guide, you’ll set off on an immersive journey into the heart of Martinique’s tropical forest. Throughout the day, he’ll reveal the treasures of this hidden side of Martinique, far from the usual tourist trails, combining nature, local culture and encounters with the local people.
On the itinerary: fording streams, rivers and forest tracks, spectacular viewpoints along the Route des Crêtes, and a tour of pineapple, sugarcane and banana plantations. You’ll also have the chance to meet farm workers during a visit to a banana plantation, to gain a better understanding of the importance of these crops in the island’s history and economy.
The day continues through stunning landscapes, amidst tropical vegetation, lush hills and refreshing waterfalls. A swim in the rushing waters will allow you to fully enjoy the bountiful natural beauty of the Northern Caribbean.
At lunchtime, it’stime for some conviviality! Marie-Aline welcomes you into her home and garden to share a delicious homemade Creole meal, served in the shade of her terrace. A simple, warm and authentic moment, just the way we like it in Martinique.
To round off this lovely day, head to Sainte-Marie for a visit to the Maison de la Distillation and its museum. Here you’ll discover part of Martinique’s rum heritage, before enjoying a tasting of Saint-James rums – in moderation, of course.
A comprehensive excursion, ideal for those wishing to get off the beaten track and enjoy a genuine Martinican experience combining nature, traditions, gastronomy and heritage.
