Madinina Kayak Tripping offers kayak hire with or without a guide, setting off from Anse Figuier beach in Rivière-Pilote and across the whole of Martinique. Mangroves, rivers, Marin Bay or open sea: choose your route and package to suit your preferences and ability.

Kayak hire with a guide or on your own With Madinina Kayak Tripping, there are two ways to get out on the water. If you choose the self-guided option, you hire your kayak and set off at your own pace after receiving advice from Joby. Before you set off, he’ll show you the right techniques to ensure a smoother and more comfortable paddling experience.

With Joby as your guide, the trip becomes a more immersive experience. He accompanies participants as they discover Martinique’s landscapes and ecosystem. Guided trips accommodate groups of up to 15 people. No stranger to long distances, Joby notably accompanied the swimmers on the Tour de la Martinique in 2022, covering an 89-kilometre route in 17 stages.

Which kayaking routes should you choose from Anse Figuier? There are several routes available, allowing you to tailor the trip to your ability and what you’d like to explore. You can paddle up the Pilote River and venture into the mangrove swamp, amongst mangrove trees, crabs and birds, notably kayalis and egrets. It’s a trip that invites you to observe as much as to listen to this natural environment.

Out at sea, head for Pointe Borgnèse and its seabed, or towards Baie du Marin and its ‘cyclone hole’. The most experienced kayakers can continue the adventure by crossing Baie du Marin to Sainte-Anne.

Kayaking trips are now available in other parts of Martinique Madinina Kayak Tripping is also developing itinerant services thanks to a partnership that enables kayaks to be transported to other sites. Among the spots on offer,Anse Spoutourne in Tartane, in the commune of La Trinité, allows you to discover another part of the island from the water.

Madinina Kayak Tripping has also teamed up with Karlo Fun Nautik to allow visitors who wish to do so to combine kayaking with tubing. An attractive option for alternating the pleasure of paddling with a more dynamic activity on the water.

Kayak hire costs €10 per hour per person. Depending on your trip, you can choose from: • single kayaks; • 4-seater kayaks that can accommodate 3 adults and 1 child; • life jackets; • waterproof containers to protect your belongings whilst out on the water.

The Madinina Kayak Tripping base is located on Anse Figuier beach, to the left of the Écomusée, in Rivière-Pilote. Bookings can be made by telephone on weekdays. At weekends, Joby is on site.

For your comfort, do bring a cap, some water, a snack and, why not, your camera to capture some memories of the trip.
