Each commune has its own small market, covered or not: you can find local fruits and vegetables as well as bulk spices, vendors of local souvenirs and crafts (basketry, jewelry, shells…), tropical flower vendors, sellers of Creole specialties (accras, Creole black puddings, sweets, pastries, liquors…). The rule is to come early enough in the morning to take advantage of the widest possible choice!
Organic and agro-ecology enthusiasts, don’t miss the Marché agricole du Nord Atlantique (MANA) in Sainte-Marie, the foire agricole in Rivière Pilote and the Grand marché agricole itinérant.
Symbols of the diversity of our markets: an institution such as the Grand Marché de Fort-de-France and its restored hall, the covered market of Le Marin in the south and that of Diamond on the seafront, picturesque and colorful, which remains open until the afternoon.
