Description
With its distinctive Creole architecture, the Maison Rimbaud is a veritable treasure trove of memories and Martinique’s history. Long hidden beneath dense vegetation, this wooden house has been painstakingly restored using its original materials.
Today, it is open to the public all year round and offers an immersive, timeless visitor experience, blending heritage, nature and the passing on of living history.
The tour includes:
- a tour of the house and its furnishings
- a historical account tracing the history of the site and its former owner, Louis Emmanuel Rimbaud, a prominent figure in Martinique
- a tour of the estate’s gardens.
Conversations with the hosts enrich the experience and offer a sensitive and human insight into Martinique’s heritage.
Run by Murielle and Olivier Fruton, who are committed to promoting local heritage, Maison Rimbaud is a remarkable example of restoration. Their work has been supported in particular by the Mission Stéphane Bern and the Fondation du Patrimoine.
A real favourite!A unique cultural and heritage tour, an absolute must-see in Martinique.
