Spanning several hectares, the trail invites visitors to stroll amongst lush vegetation. Royal palms, majestic trees, tropical plants, ponds, an orchard and botanical species from all over the world combine to create a vibrant and soothing setting.
The garden is distinguished by the presence of contemporary sculptures installed in the open air. These works interact with the landscape and transform the walk into a veritable open-air gallery .Contemporary Caribbean artfinds a natural home here, in harmony with the park’s layout and the estate’s history.
Several distinct areas punctuate the tour • An avenue of majestic royal palms, inviting visitors to explore a palm grove boasting an impressive variety of these species. • A sculpture garden that anchors Caribbean contemporary art within the landscape, displayed in the areas dedicated to the Clément Foundation. • A restored former ox-driven mill, overlooking the park. • A tropical orchard home to numerous endemic plant species. • A main house surrounded by large trees, such as tamarind, mahogany and mombin trees, which once marked the boundaries of dwellings. • A machinery garden, which showcases old machine tools, a steam power station, trains and wagons within a landscaped setting.
An Open-Air Art Gallery: A must-see in Martinique! The garden is an unmissable part of any visit to the estate. It offers visitors the chance to discover another, more contemplative side to Habitation Clément, combining biodiversity, artistic creation and a tribute to Martinique’s historic plantations.
