Fonds-Saint-Denis

Description

Starting point: Caplet Forest Access: N2, D19, village of Morne-Vert, Caplet forest road. It allows you to reach Fonds-Saint-Denis after crossing a wide green valley.
Go on the track in the mahoganys forest. 50 m after the start, the path is on a balcony and below you can see the Attila spring (1). Go down and cross a small stream. On your right, you will see a small waterfall. The trail goes up into a small clearing and crosses another mahogany forest crossed by the Boucaud River. Further down the hill on the right: a plantation of Caribbean pines. Continue on the track which follows up to the forest road of Grand Fond. It is a concrete portion that will be walked on for about 300m. At the top of the slope, leave the forest road and take the path that goes to the left into a rose apple forest (2). Continue on the track which goes out of the undergrowth to cross a large clearing. You are at the Canessa plateau (3). In front of you stands the Morne des Cadets, on the right you can see the Carbet peaks massif. Continue your hike along the fences delimiting the anthurium plantations, pass a chicane and descend to the bridge over the Carbet River. You are at the end of the course but you still have one more challenge: the climb that will take you to the edge of the D1 at Fonds-Saint-Denis.
