Lunch at the Mya-Moh restaurant

Today, I’m lunching at the Mya-Moh restaurant in Sainte-Luce, a tourist village in Martinique’s South Caribbean. With its privileged location right in the heart of the village, up the semi-pedestrian street that runs along the beach, the Mya-Moh offers a sublime panoramic sea view. I just love it! This Creole restaurant has won the hearts of Martiniquais and tourists alike with its traditional home cooking featuring fish and seafood: lobster, lambi, chatrou, vivanneau…

Panoramic view

Facing the bay of Le Marin and Sainte-Anne

Aurélie welcomes me with a broad smile. We settle into the large, light and airy room. I’m mesmerized by the view: I can see the fishing skiffs, Pointe Marin, Sainte-Anne and the neighboring island of Sainte-Lucie in the distance, and the water is an incredible shade of blue… With her husband Gary, the chef in the kitchen, they took over the establishment in 2022, based on a simple concept: to offer a typically West Indian cuisine, fragrant and tasty, based on local produce.

Seafood speciality

You can tell you’re in a fishing family: the menu is all about fish and seafood! The restaurant smells of grilled lobster

I discover the menu with Aurélie. On the menu, she reveals the best of Creole cuisine: accras, boudins (cod and lambi!), grilled lobster, grilled fish, grilled lambi (my guilty pleasure), fried balaous (my second guilty pleasure!)… Gary is unsurpassed when it comes to serving tender, moist grilled lambi!

The plates are generous and colorful, accompanied by crudités, country vegetables and home-made sweet potato fries. The Creole and dog sauces are just the right amount of spice. Simple, effective and delicious!

In the mood for freshness? Mya-Moh also offers great salads.

And if you’re not in the mood for fish, the magret with honey sauce and the grilled entrecôte are also part of the adventure…

Lobster menus

All-inclusive, excellent value for money.

  • The Lobster Menu : starteraccras, whole grilled lobster (500g) and homemade dessert! Best-seller of the house.
  • The Mya-Moh Menu combines two of the stars of Creole cuisine: grilled half lobster and grilled lambi. It’s my favorite…

Tapas and cocktails by the sea

Gary’s menu includes two tapas plates to share (“classic” and “de la mer”) with a cocktail from the barman, or simply to accompany your ti-punch. It’s nice and crunchy!

   Christophe’s cocktails

Each of his creations is unique, and you’ll be surprised by the bold flavors and artistic presentations. Don’t hesitate, they’re to die for!

A family of fishermen

Fishing here is a family affair: father, brother and uncle of the Henry family are all experienced fishermen. You can be sure of fresh Tahitian-style marlin and grilled fish!

and local products

Gary buys hisproduce from a market gardener in Basse-Pointe and showcases local products: sweet potatoes, dachines (taro, madeira), ti-nain, vegetarian peppers, herbs… He makes us taste them in the form of gratins, mousselines but also in small pieces to rediscover all the raw flavors of our country vegetables.

A moment of escape

Arriving around 2pm, I linger with an old rum on the high tables, watching the fishing skiffs and anchored boats dance on the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, lulled by the trade winds. A moment of escape!

Frankly, I enjoyed myself, the whole team is very pleasant and the service is attentive, which adds to the positive experience. Aurélie tells me that on Saturday evening, there’ll be a DJ on hand, so I can’t wait to come back and enjoy dinner at Mya-Moh!

Little extras (and not the least…)

  • We appreciate being able to arrive at a restaurant until 3pm and take our time for lunch…
  • At weekends, on Fridays and Saturdays, the Mya-Moh restaurant is open in the evening, often with music and a DJ to suit all tastes. Keep an eye on the diary…
