Neisson Distillery
Distillery, Historic site and monument
in Le Carbet
-
Since its creation in 1931, the Neisson Distillery in Le Carbet has preserved, in the purest Martinique tradition, the components of a rum with unequalled fragrance and taste.
Neisson rums are the fruit of a constantly renewed know-how from the cane fields, to the ageing cellars and up to the bottling, transmitted from generation to generation since -
The distillery's activity corresponds to the sugar cane harvesting period from February to June, but you are welcome all year round for a guided or unguided tour of the site and a tasting at the shop. The site is magnificent, where art and rum are combined to perfection.
The work of the cellar master has enabled the creation of exceptional rums such as a 21 year old hors d'âge, or limited vintages: Sacha in 2020, and Nanoginta in 2022.

A little history:
It began in 1932, when the Neisson brothers, Jean and Adrien, bought the land of Thieubert. Adrien built the distillery, which he equipped with new "Mariolle Fives-Lille" mills and older equipment such as a boiler dating from 1880 that is still in operation today, while Jean completed his studies at the Institut Supérieur de Chimie de Paris.
Jean develops the marketing of Neisson in mainland France. He designed the label and the shape of the bottle, nicknamed "zépol karé". In 1958, he had a Savalle-type distillation column installed, which he modified himself, thus considerably improving the quality of the rum. Now unique and a true Neisson signature, this column is cherished like a jewel.
After Adrien's death in 1971, Jean took over the business: his talents as a chemical engineer worked wonders. In 1995, Claudine decided to honour the promise she had made to her father: she left medicine and, with her son Grégory, modernised the production tool and improved production and distribution.
Today, Neisson rums are part of the island's heritage and are recognised throughout the world. We love them.
