A hike that allows you to climb Mount Pelée from the Caribbean Sea, an ideal itinerary on a path rehabilitated in 2017. Numerous information boards on the fauna, flora and geology mark out the trail.

NB: This is a linear hike, so plan to take a vehicle at the arrival and a second one at the departure, or walk back down.

Take the road (1) which climbs through the houses towards Montagne Pelée. Go straight up, ignoring the roads to the right and left, for 1.3 km. It passes the houses in the Préville neighbourhood and then continues through the fields.

Leave the road and take the track that climbs to the left into the xerophytic forest (2). At 370 m, the track gives way to a narrower path. It climbs under vegetation cover in a ridge line to the Grande Savane district. After 3.5 km of climbing, the vegetation clears and you can see Montagne Pelée opposite and Morne Plumé on your right.

Take the left-hand track (3) and continue into the savannah until the next intersection (4). You have the choice: the left path leading to Montagne Pelée or the right path leading to the Grande Savane car park (5).
