A short hike on the heights of Anses-d'Arlet. -
Leave the road and go down to the right in a track that passes very close to the houses of a small village. At the end of the alley, turn right, go a few more meters, then turn right again. You will find yourself behind a large house overlooking the beach. Walk along the house's perimeter wall and continue to climb.

The concrete pavement drops slightly down and you can see a small path that goes to the left. Go on this stony track, in an undergrowth of acacia and hazelleaf croton trees. Do not hesitate to look back to Grande Anse beach and the small village at the foot of the hill.
After half an hour of climbing, the trail arrives on a plateau in a mahogany clearing. Keep going straight ahead. At the end of the plateau, you will find on your left a large pond (1). This place is the meeting place for moorhens and other birds. The track climbs a little further and arrives in a ridge line. Take the path that goes down to the right and follow it up to the ruins. This is all that remains today of a fortress composed of a battery of cannons and powder magazines.
Go back by the track which goes to the right and go up to a small oratory. Turn right, the path begins to descend and after 20 minutes of walking appears the village of Anses d'Arlet at the foot of the Morne Genty.
The path leaves the undergrowth and arrives in the street of Morne Champagne, which will lead you along the beach of the village of Anses-d'Arlet.
