  • Starting point: parking lot at the beach of Anse Michel.
    Access: N5, D9, D33.

This is the longest stretch of the Caps trail, the gradient is not steep but the path is most often open, so the hiker should take into account the high exposure to the sun!

  • Go into the wide driveway that leads to Anse Michel beach. Continue straight ahead until the end of the beach, then turn right into a small path that rises on the cliff. Continue on the path and at the next fork, turn left. The trail will take you to the Cap Chevalier parking lot (1).

Go into the wide driveway that leads to Anse Michel beach. Continue straight ahead until the end of the beach, then turn right into a small path that rises on the cliff. Continue on the path and at the next fork, turn left. The trail will take you to the Cap Chevalier parking lot (1).

Cross the road and continue opposite on the concrete road that runs behind the restaurants, then take the path that goes to the right. It starts in a small undergrowth, crosses the mangrove swamp and arrives on a small dirt road facing a small pontoon. Turn right into the rising track and, at the intersection, turn left. Advance to the fence, a gate allows the passage of hikers.

You will then reach a fork in the road. Stay to the left, the track continues on a beach, next to the ruins of an old distillery. Then, the path follows the coast, bypasses a large area of mangrove swamp and arrives on a gravel road. Follow this road but be careful not to miss on the left the fork that goes into the mangrove swamp on a plateau (2).

After the mangrove, the trail passes through a doorway, continues through a undergrowth and borders a large area used for melon growing. Continue on the path. A little further on, a fork on the left leads to an oratory called the Virgin of the Coolies. Do not take this path: continue straight ahead, you will soon have on your left a dry wetland that gives the place a desert feel.

Then, it is the ascent of a hill on top of which there is another oratory called the Virgin of the Sailors. Here, you are not far from the end of the itinerary. The trail is on a balcony and you can enjoy a magnificent view of the coast, the surrounding mountains and islands where the waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash. A few more steps, and you will arrive at the parking area of Anse Trabaud beach.
