Visit Maison Rimbaud – Domaine de la Trace, Fort-de-France

Located on Route de la Trace, in the heart of Domaine de la Trace, Maison Rimbaud is an exceptional heritage site waiting to be discovered.

Nestled in the heart of the Fort-de-France rainforest, two minutes from the Balata Garden, the house enjoys a remarkable natural environment, with an unobstructed view of the Pitons du Nord (Carbet and Montagne Pelée), listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
With its unusual Creole architecture, Maison Rimbaud is a veritable treasure trove of memories and history in Martinique. Long hidden beneath dense vegetation, this wooden house has been patiently restored using the original materials.

Today, it is open to the public all year round and offers an immersive, timeless visitor experience, combining heritage, nature and the transmission of living memory.

The visit includes:
• a tour of the house and its furnishings,
• the historical account of the life of the place and its former owner, Louis Emmanuel Rimbaud, a prominent figure in Martinique,
• a tour of the grounds.

Discussions with the hosts enrich the experience and offer a sensitive and human interpretation of Martinique's heritage.

Run by Murielle and Olivier Fruton, who are committed to promoting local heritage, Maison Rimbaud is a remarkable example of restoration. Their work has been supported by the Stéphane Bern Mission and the Heritage Foundation.

A real favourite! A unique cultural and heritage tour, not to be missed in Martinique.
