Oscar islet rises to 40m above sea level. It has sandy handles and a fine white sand.

It was named Viviès islet after the former mayor of Le François from 1923 to 1935, Auguste Viviès, who had a second home there.
The white bottoms between Oscar islet and Thierry are called "Josephine's Bathtub" because according to legend, Josephine de Beauharnais, Empress of the French, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte used to swim there.

It is possible to visit the islet. Several companies offer services on the islet and on the white bottoms. A guest house and a host table, the Maison de l'Ilet Oscar, is open. It is the most frequented islet of Le François.
