Frigate islet is an uninhabited islet. It is an islet protected by a biotope protection order since 2003. It is registered by the ministerial order of 28 July 2007. It is one of the islets classified as neither too degraded nor too preserved.
It owes its name to the nearby Habitation Frégate.
The islet culminates at an altitude of 20 metres. It has a discontinuous vegetation cover made of grassy herbaceous plants, pear trees, mangroves. A rare tree is found there, the great Cosmaya with its scientific name Cratera Tapia.
As for fauna, we meet sheep, anolis, wood lice and crickets.
For birds: the black-tailed dove that lives on this islet because of the seeds of the "boi zotolan" on which it feeds.
This islet can be visited; tour companies offer visits to several islets in the area.
