  • The Saint-Pierre Theatre, also called the Comedy Hall, was the intellectual and artistic centre of the West Indies until May 1902. Destroyed by the eruption of Mount Pelee on May 8, 1902, its ruins have been listed as a historic monument since 1996 - a tourist attraction of the city.

  • Located at the corner of Victor-Hugo and Theatre streets in the Centre district of Saint-Pierre.
    The ancient theatre of Saint-Pierre testifies of the richness of the city and its cultural life of the past. Today, vestiges of this monument are still visible with among others: a series of steps giving access to the theatre - the guide rails of the gate that protected the entrance to the building - a fountain under an arch - two bronzes through which water was flowing - the orchestra pit......
