A little history:
Habitation Beauséjour has a rich history dating back to 1671, when Antoine Chambert became the first owner. In 1694, it became a sugar mill, producing sugar until 1900. Its current name, ‘Habitation Beauséjour’, was given in 1856. Faced with an economic crisis, the dwelling diversified its activities by turning to banana cultivation.
In 2018, the de Fossarieu family, who had owned the distillery for several generations, decided to revive its past and once again began producing rum under the brand name H.B.S. This distillery stands out for its choice to use alembic distillation, a method less common in Martinique where column distillation is the norm.
This return to its origins marks a new era for Habitation Beauséjour, which now combines tradition and modernity in the production of its unique rums.
