Depaz Distillery

Distillery, Historic site and monument in Saint-Pierre

  • The Depaz distillery, located at the foot of Montagne Pelée and overlooking the bay of Saint-Pierre, is at the heart of the vast estate of the 17th-century La Montagne dwelling.

    The distillery is open all year round and is free to visit. In addition to the distillery and Château Depaz, visitors can admire the paddle wheel, quench their thirst at the Case à Louisette, visit the Rum Museum, have lunch at the restaurant Le Moulin à Cannes and sample Depaz rums in the shop.

  • During your visit to the distillery, you'll learn all about the process of making Depaz AOC Martinique rums thanks to the panels and QR codes. During the harvest period, from February to June, you can see the entire distillery in operation.

The exceptionally sunny exposure, swept by the trade winds, favours the accumulation of sugar. The various stages in rum production are all carried out on site, as soon as the cane is cut: crushing, fermentation, distillation, casking and ageing.

    Tours of Château Depaz cost €5 per person, with a complimentary tasting of rum or punch in the rum shop.
