A beautiful walk to discover the monuments and parks of downtown Fort-de-France.
From the departure point of the Comité de la randonnée pédestre de la Martinique (hiking committee of Martinique), cross Ernest Deproge street, walk along the sea front towards Fort Saint-Louis (1). Cross the boulevard Chevalier-Sainte-Marthe (2) and enter the Savane park (3), stop at the various statues and war memorials on the Savane.
Leave the park and cross Liberté Street, continue to the Museum of Pre-Columbian Archaeology and Prehistory (4).
From the museum, turn left and walk along...
From the departure point of the Comité de la randonnée pédestre de la Martinique (hiking committee of Martinique), cross Ernest Deproge street, walk along the sea front towards Fort Saint-Louis (1). Cross the boulevard Chevalier-Sainte-Marthe (2) and enter the Savane park (3), stop at the various statues and war memorials on the Savane.
Leave the park and cross Liberté Street, continue to the Museum of Pre-Columbian Archaeology and Prehistory (4).
From the museum, turn left and walk along Blénac street until you reach the Monseigneur Roméro square and the Saint-Louis cathedral (5).
Go down Schoelcher street in the direction of the traffic and enter the park of the Camille Darsières cultural space, opposite the Court of Appeal (6). Go back to Schoelcher street, at the corner of Victor Sévère street, turn right and go up to the Bougenot pavilion (7) and the Schoelcher Library (8). Walk up Liberté Street to the Prefecture (9).
Turn right into Jacques Cazotte street (10), then turn left towards the Tropiques Atrium (11).
Cross the Général de Gaulle boulevard to reach the Museum of History and Ethnography (12).
Walk down the boulevard to the "rich people's cemetery" passing the Lafcadio-Hearn market, the vegetable market (13), then turn right onto the Croix Mission square. Cross the José Marti square and enter the Parc Floral (14), where you can walk along the hundred-year-old tamarind trees.
Leave the floral park and turn right. On the left bank of the river Madame is the vegetable market of the Parc Floral Max Ramsay (15). At the end of Paul Nardal Street, you will pass the "Man zouzou" fish market (16).
Continue straight on Allègre boulevard, on your right you will see the bridge and the Gueydon fountain overlooking the Levassor canal (17).
Turn left into Antoine Siger street(18) and walk up to the William Valérie meat market and the Great covered market(19). From the market square, walk down Blénac Street to the semi-pedestrianised section of République Street. Join Ernest Deproge street and turn left to find the Comité de la randonnée pédestre de la Martinique.
