Plage de Cap Chevalier - Anse Michel
-
Martinique's top beaches:
Cap Chevalier beach, also known as Anse Michel, is one of Martinique's jewels. Located on the island's Atlantic coast, this beach offers a heavenly setting with its fine white sand, crystal-clear waters and coral reef protecting the bay.
Anse Michel features a long stretch of white sand lined with coconut and grape trees. The coral reef creates a calm lagoon with shallow waters, ideal for swimming. It is a popular spot for kitesurfing, thanks to the steady winds.
The beach is also known for its îlet Chevalier, accessible by boat or kayak. Visitors can explore this islet, enjoying its small deserted beaches and discovering the local flora and fauna.
Facilities on the beach are limited, preserving its natural, wild feel. However, there are a few restaurants and snack bars nearby offering refreshments and local dishes.
Before arriving at the beach, once you have parked in the car park, you will cross the mangrove and the forest. Watch out for the cursed fig tree along the way, which is both sumptuous and mysterious. -
