  • Islet
97240 Le François
The Thierry islet is opposite the Oscar islet. They are separated by the famous white bottoms of the Josephine Bathtub.
In the shape of a star, this islet rises to 30m above sea level. Protected by a coral reef and bathed in the turquoise blue and shallow waters of the lagoon, its 15 hectares of vegetation offers a unique set of landscapes and spots. The islet has a large cave. Its vegetation consists of herbaceous plants and trees such as mancenilliers, mahoganys and country pear trees. There are cacti, almond trees, silk-cotton trees, cheese makers and flamboyants. The yellow warbler is the most common bird on the islet and fewer are the yellow-bellied, several hummingbird species and the square-tailed turtle-dove. Several service companies allow you to go there to visit it and swim in the white bottoms. It is a daily frequented islet, classified in the category neither too "degraded" nor too "preserved", it is fragile and must be preserved.
