Îlet Madame

This islet is accessible mainly by boat, but also by kayak. Part of the Robert and François archipelago, Îlet Madame is protected by coral reefs, creating a crystal-clear lagoon ideal for water sports. The vegetation on the islet provides pleasant shade on the white sandy beaches. A pontoon, built in 2009, makes it easy for visitors to dock and disembark, and there are several shaded cabins on the islet.

On arrival, visitors are amazed by the breathtaking beauty of the landscape: clear waters reminiscent of a lagoon, dazzling white beach sand and dense, lush vegetation. L'îlet Madame is a popular stop-off point for many tourist excursions, as well as a favourite spot for the inhabitants of Le Robert.

As well as the fine sandy beach and turquoise waters, there is a path around the islet, the highest point of which is 19 metres above sea level. The local fauna is varied, with yellow-breasted sugarbirds, blackbirds, grey tyrants, yellow warblers and whistling elands. The flora is not to be outdone, with pear trees, bois rameaux, red gum trees, seaside plum trees and mulberry trees. This small piece of land, measuring around 2.86 hectares, is virtually flat.

The islet is named after Madame Du Parquet, wife of Jacques du Parquet, Governor of Martinique, who liked to rest here in the 1650s. Îlet Madame is the most visited islet in the commune of Le Robert, thanks to its single sandy cove.
