Cascade du Saut du Gendarme

Waterfall in Fonds-Saint-Denis
  • Its name would come from the many gendarmes who stopped there from Saint-Pierre to make their horses drink. It is said that one of them fell while trying to climb the rock face from which the waterfall flows.

  • The omnipresent water allows an exuberant flora to emerge and refreshes hikers. The waterfall, about ten meters high, is surrounded by a small pool where it is pleasant to soak your feet.

This green and clear water area is ideal for picnics and listening to birds sing. Tables and benches are available for picnics.
A walk is possible towards the Pelee Mountain via the road of Trianon or Morne Calebasse.
