I prefer an outing supervised by a trained professional: If I wish to make an outing dedicated to the observation of marine mammals, I must favor boarding with a professional observation operator trained by the Agoa Sanctuary. The regulations require professional operators to receive training in the approach to marine mammals provided by the Agoa Sanctuary. This training as well as the signing of the Agoa charter are essential prerequisites required by the competent authorities (the sea authorities) for the practice of professional whale watching. Only these professionals have the regulatory authorization to approach up to 100 meters from the animals. Untrained people cannot come closer than 300 meters to the animals. This way, you make sure you board with someone who has everything you need to help you discover marine mammals without disturbing them. List of trained operators: https://sanctuaire-agoa.fr/recherche?f%5B0%5D=pnm_type_documentation%3A187 If I observe on my own I respect the regulations which prohibit the approach of marine mammals at less than 300 meters on water, under water but also above water. Whether swimming, with a small boat such as a kayak or a paddle, in a motorboat, but also with a drone, snorkeling or scuba diving, I am not allowed to approach marine mammals within 300 meters. If they come to me, I don't seek interaction, I don't touch them with my hands or with an object like my paddles, I don't get in the water if I'm on a boat, I don't don't feed, I avoid acoustic disturbances by turning off the music and remaining calm.
