Le Paradis du Bakwa

Heir to a family and ancestral tradition, Sandra settled here 7 years ago to share her passion and know-how with the general public. The braiding of the fibres of the Pandanus sanderi tree, called here "bakoua" or "bakwa" in Creole, gave birth to the typical Martinican hat of the same name. Beware of copies, the real bakoua hat requires technique, patience and dexterity: one day to prepare the straw and 45 min to 1h for assembly on average.

A designer at heart, Sandra creates custom and personalized hats ranging from traditional bakoua to more chic evening hats, galas, ceremonies, borsalino, turban, fashion accessories (bags, jewelry, pockets, ties, belts), beach accessories, decoration (suspensions, placemats, floor mats, etc.) all in bakoua fiber. Very attentive to her clients, she works a lot to order.

With her own brand, she also takes part in fashion shows during patronal celebrations and decorates festive events: weddings, baptisms, etc.
